Parking…
Parking overview
Roadchef is pleased to offer all of its customers free parking for up to 2 hours at 20 Motorway Service Areas throughout Britain, after which time charges apply (see parking charges section below).
So whether you are travelling on business or for leisure, towing a caravan, or driving a heavy goods vehicle or coach, you can rest assured that we offer a safe and convenient stopping point for a whole variety of users.
Parking areas
Whilst most of our car parks are fairly large with, in some cases, signage to guide specific customers such as caravanners and motor caravan customers to the most appropriate area, at peak times or at our smaller sites, available spaces can be limited.
Separate parking areas are also available for both HGV drivers and coach customers, generally away from the main car parks, as the safety of all of our customers is paramount. In addition, this ensures the most efficient flow of traffic onto and off each of our service areas, allowing you to continue with your onward journey with the minimum of fuss.
Furthermore, we are currently in the process of reviewing the directional signage in and out of our parking areas with a view to improving site circulation in the future.
Indeed, we have recently announced a £150,000 Capital Works Programme, designed to regenerate our car, touring, HGV and coach parking areas, particularly at older sites, in order to achieve more effective segregation and improve conditions by repairing potholes and improving drainage. In addition, money will also be spent on access roads to improve conditions after the particularly severe winters of 2010 and 2011.
Parking charges
As mentioned earlier, there is a limit to the number of parking spaces available, particularly at our smaller sites and the main purpose of our service areas is to provide short-term rest and relaxation for long distance travellers. If all parking areas were free and we began to attract too much long-term parking, demand would quickly outstrip supply and some of our car parks would be full and unavailable for rest stops.
As a result, other than hotel guests, who receive free parking for the duration of their stay following entry of their details onto the hotel system at check in, all other customers wishing to stay for over 2 hours to conduct lengthy business meetings or to car share for an onward journey, for example, will incur a charge at the prevailing rate. Please click here for a chart which details parking charges relating to each of our service areas.
To help us monitor the use of our car parks and to provide added security for all users, we have also recently installed digital camera Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) CCTV systems at many of our service areas and all parking restrictions and charges are clearly displayed at each site.
How to pay for parking
If you decide to park on a site for more than the 2 free hours, you will need to pay for your parking in the following way.
Using the parking chart above and once you have established whether you are at an ANPR or non ANPR Roadchef site, the relevant parking tariff should be paid by one of the following methods:
- In person in the main amenities building at any Roadchef Motorway Service Area in either the Restbite restaurant, Hot Food Co. outlet or WHSmith retail store
- At a pay machine located within car parks at non ANPR sites
- By phone on 03304 007275, quoting the Verrus site location (www.paybyphone.co.uk)
- For contract parking contact CPPlus by phone on 020 7431 4001 (www.cp-plus.co.uk)
Appealing a parking charge
It is not our intention to penalise customers who have legitimate reasons for staying over the current 2 hour free parking limit, so if you receive a parking charge which you feel is unfair or unreasonable we have an appeal process and you should in the first instance contact the Appeals Section, CP Plus Limited, PO Box 599, Borehamwood, WD6 4ZL.
Alternatively you can click here and use the feedback form on the contact us page on the Roadchef web site or write to the Parking Appeals Section, Roadchef Motorways Ltd, Roadchef House, Norton Canes MSA, Betty’s Lane, Norton Canes, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 9UX.
